Coffee’s owner has found a loving home for her with a personal friend. This is perfect as this means that original “mum” can keep visiting Coffee and be comfortable knowing that she is in great hands. Congratulations girls!

This pretty girl is named Coffee; she is a 1.5 year old bantam leghorn hen who was saved from being euthanized after she killed another hen.

Sometimes, hens can behave like roosters and Coffee seems to really like being the boss.  Despite her desire to rule, she is a lovely girl who could make a good companion for the right type of person or family; she is not aggressive to people at all – she is in fact rather shy.

Due to Coffee’s history of aggression she needs to find a loving, experienced & understanding home with large/heavy breeds only; or as a single hen in a home where she will get plenty of attention and free range time. She will also need to be carefully introduced to any existing hens and carefully monitored for aggression. This assertive lady may benefit from some hormone therapy via an implant, we can guide potential adopter(s) on how to go about this and provide a referral to an avian vet – or we could negotiate an adoption fee that includes this treatment.

Coffee will need to be returned to her original owner if she does not adjust to her new home or potential companions.

If her quirks are taken into consideration, Coffee would make a lovely companion – she is a very pretty girl, is in excellent health and is a great layer.

Adoption fee: POA

A BIG thank you to 7 to 1 Photography for the stunning photos generously donated to help Coffee find a home.

* Animal Actionist promotes non breeding of all rescued animals, particularly in the interest of breaking the cycle of unwanted farm animals (most of them males,) that find themselves with little time to find a new home and end up in danger of slaughter. All farm animals adopted via Animal Actionist are intended as family pets, and therefore the same rules that apply for non breeding of cats and dogs, applies to these animals too. If you apply to adopt you thereby agree and are bound to not use these birds for breeding.

All suitable applications are forwarded to the current custodian for consideration, and you will be contacted as soon as possible to discuss your offer further. Please understand that it may take a few days for us to respond to you depending on the amount of applications received, and it is never a case of first come, first served with animal adoptions, as we have to do our best to locate the absolute best homes for the animals. If you have any problems or further queries, please contact Animal Actionist direct via the “contact us” link. Thank you so much for caring for animals.
