UPDATE! Misty can now stay at her original home under the care of the new home owners who have fallen in love with her. Yay Misty!!

This little lady was rescued when she was a piglet – the runt of the litter she was going to be put down, but her current family took her in and raised her on the bottle.  She has been a part of their family for 8 years but unfortunately, life is sending them in a different direction and they are moving to the city – regrettably Misty cannot go with them.  We are hoping to help Misty find a permanent and safe home for the rest of her life, so if you’re interested in sharing your patch of land and home with a pretty black pig, please read on;

NAME: Misty

AGE: Approximately 8 years

HEIGHT: Approximately 80-90cm

WEIGHT: Approximately 100-120kg

VACCINATED: Yes (will be done before rehoming)

TRAINING: Unfortunately Misty has no formal training and would benefit from some basic behavioural training from her new family.

TEMPERAMENT: Misty is an independent and clever girl who know’s what she wants and doesn’t mind asking for it. She loves a good belly rub and back scratch and goes ga-ga over face tickles. In the summer, she absolutely loves having water sprayed on her or tipped over her from a bucket, and like all pigs she enjoys and needs a muddy wallow to cool herself in.  Misty really enjoys friendly attention and loves her food.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS: Misty has a strong personality and will need lots of attention along with some patience, understanding & training to bring out her loving and softer side.

ADOPTION FEE: $50-$75 (to be negotiated with the right home)

Here’s what Kaylene the photographer had to say about Misty when she first met her for the photoshoot:

“Misty is a gorgeous character… she is a stomach on legs. Her eyes lit up when she saw the food bag, and even more when she spotted apples 🙂 She was like a big dog. I gave her a scratch on the back and she even did the leg thing like a dog. She nuzzled up to me and gave me lots of piggy kisses. Very friendly and would love a home with lots of food on tap and scratches galore. A gorgeous piggy.”

We hope you can help us to help this lovely pig… please fill in the Expression of Interest form below if you would like to know more, or offer to foster or adopt.

A huge THANK YOU to Kaylene from Shutterpaws for some of the beautiful photos featured below!

* Animal Actionist promotes non breeding of all rescued animals, particularly in the interest of breaking the cycle of unwanted farm animals (most of them males,) that find themselves with little time to find a new home and end up in danger of slaughter. All farm animals adopted via Animal Actionist are intended as family pets, and therefore the same rules that apply for non breeding of cats and dogs, applies to these animals too. If you apply to adopt you thereby agree and are bound to not use this animal for breeding.

All suitable applications are forwarded to the current custodian for consideration, and you will be contacted as soon as possible to discuss your offer further. Please understand that it may take a few days for us to respond to you depending on the amount of applications received, and it is never a case of first come, first served with animal adoptions, as we have to do our best to locate the absolute best homes for the animals. If you have any problems or further queries, please contact Animal Actionist direct via the “contact us” link. Thank you so much for caring for animals.
