23/6 – We have some wonderful news! Goku’s family have found a way to manage the situation and have decided to keep him where he is, happily at home with his brood of girls. We couldn’t be happier for everyone involved – especially Goku!!

This handsome little devil is in need of a loving home. He was handed over to Jane who took him from her sister when she moved away. Unfortunately Goku is trying to find his feisty rooster feet and has too many arguments with the resident ducks. He’s reaching maturity now so he’s interested in finding his brood and establishing himself as the dominant protector of the flock (bless him). This certainly isn’t a fault of Goku’s, he’s just doing what roosters tend to do – so it would be good for him if we could place him in a home that can allow him to be the man of the chook yard.

Here’s more info from Jane:

Goku is (currently) quite a timid boy. He gets bossed around by my hens a lot and I think he gets frustrated because he doesn’t have much luck with them! He has never been aggressive to an adult human, he usually runs off if I approach but he will come to me for food. He looks like he might try to take on my 2 year old neice though! I have seen him fighting with my 2 drakes before but Im not sure who is the aggressor in that situation as the ducks can be jerks. 😂
I think in the right home he would be a very good rooster.

Goku is stunning – he’s a standard frizzle full of life and brimming with enthusiasm. Could he find safety and love with you?

NAME: Goku

AGE: Approximately 6 months old

BREED: Frizzle Rooster

HEIGHT: 45-50cm to head

WEIGHT: 2.7kg approx

WORMED: No (will be done before handover to new home)

PARASITE CONTROL: Will be treated with anti-parasitic (lice & mites) before handover to new home

DESEXED: No (but not offered as a breeding rooster)

TEMPERAMENT: timid when it comes to adult humans but can be a bit more confronting to other birds and MAYBE with children. This may settle down in the company of hens or a bachelor group of similar sized roosters.

Goku is an adolescent finding his rooster-hood, he needs time to settle in and sort his hormonal urges out. Ideally he would do well spending some time in an enclosed yard with similar sized hens until he finds his feet in the flock. After which, free ranging should be fine.

Watch kiddies around Goku until you know how he will react to them.

Roosters are not allowed in many shires so please be sure to check with your local shire before applying.

Although seemingly a little feisty, Goku is a lovely fellow and deserves a chance to be the boss of his brood; happy and safe.

We hope you can help us to help this lovely boy… please fill in the Expression of Interest form below if you would like to know more, or offer to adopt.

* Animal Actionist promotes non breeding of all rescued animals, particularly in the interest of breaking the cycle of unwanted farm animals (most of them males,) that find themselves with little time to find a new home and end up in danger of slaughter. All farm animals adopted via Animal Actionist are intended as family pets, and therefore the same rules that apply for non breeding of cats and dogs, applies to these animals too. If you apply to adopt you thereby agree and are bound to not use this animal for breeding.

All suitable applications are forwarded to the current custodian for consideration, and you will be contacted as soon as possible to discuss your offer further. Please understand that it may take a few days for us to respond to you depending on the amount of applications received, and it is never a case of first come, first served with animal adoptions, as we have to do our best to locate the absolute best homes for the animals.
