UPDATE: Janette and Steve have found a wonderful home for Wilberforce. Great news for everyone!

This is a special case from South Australia – Wilburforce’s family have been desperately trying to find him a good home for some time now, and reached out to us to help get his story out.

Wilberforce is named after the legendary William Wilberforce (1759 –1833) – Leader of the movement to abolish the slave trade and co-founder of the world’s first society for the prevention of cruelty to animals. A fitting name for this intelligent, independent, and free thinking pig.

Wilberforce is a four year old ‘miniature’ pig bred by Crystal Miniature Pigs. Wilberforce is no ‘Esther the Wonder Pig’! He can be a rather cantankerous fellow and only likes an eye, ear & bottom scratch for short periods on his own terms. However, he is rather partial to a mantra being sung to him which results in him dropping on his side and enjoying a belly scratch. However, this usually ends with him jumping up and giving a cross grunt once he realises he’s been in a vulnerable position. He really doesn’t know when he’s well off!

Despite Wilber’s lack of ‘cuddle factor’, he has an endearing and mischievous character which has given us many laughs and stories to tell.

Our wish is for Wilberforce to have a safe, happy and social life; cared for by those that love animals. We look forward to hearing from you if you can provide this for him.

* Animal Actionist promotes non breeding of all rescued animals, particularly in the interest of breaking the cycle of unwanted farm animals (most of them males,) that find themselves with little time to find a new home and end up in danger of slaughter. All farm animals adopted via Animal Actionist are intended as family pets, and therefore the same rules that apply for non breeding of cats and dogs, applies to these animals too. If you apply to adopt you thereby agree and are bound to not use this animal for breeding.

All suitable applications are forwarded to the current custodian for consideration, and you will be contacted as soon as possible to discuss your offer further. Please understand that it may take a few days for us to respond to you depending on the amount of applications received, and it is never a case of first come, first served with animal adoptions, as we have to do our best to locate the absolute best homes for the animals. If you have any problems or further queries, please contact Animal Actionist direct via the “contact us” link. Thank you so much for caring for animals.
